Sylvander Heating has been in the heating and cooling business over 95 years!Started in 1930 by N.B. Sylvander in a renovated chicken coop, Sylvander Heating has grown to be a trusted HVAC company in Red Wing, MN, and one of the top Lennox Dealers in the U.S. We remain family-owned and run to this day.

Sylvander Heating was founded with the idea that through proper design processes and open communication with our customers, vendors and manufacturers, we can provide our customers with the highest indoor air quality while maintaining budget and efficiency goals for the installation of their heating and cooling systems.

Lennox Dealer For Over 63 Years

We have been a Lennox Dealer since 1962 and are proud to be a Lennox Premier Dealer. We have won prestigious Lennox awards multiple times for our quality and service. Our Lennox partnership helps us provide our customers better systems at less cost than similar brands.

Throughout our history, our focus has been to take tremendous care of our customers and employees. As a long-standing HVAC company in Red Wing, MN, we also value our community and support the HVAC service tech program at our local community college.

The History of Sylvander Heating

1930

NB Sylvander, at age 23, started Sylvander Heating in a renovated chicken coop in Red Wing, MN.
Selling furnace cleaning services door-to-door, NB grew the business and needed to expand by adding an addition.

1956

Dale Thompson, NB Sylvander’s son-in-law, joined the business and shared in management duties.

1962

Sylvander Heating became a Lennox Dealer, strengthening our reputation as the HVAC company Red Wing, MN homeowners trusted for dependable service.

1980

Sylvander Heating expanded its business and moved to a new building.

1988

Tom Thompson and Theresa Thompson Gillman, grandchildren of NB Sylvander, joined the family business.

1989

NB Sylvander passed away.

1997

Sylvander Heating expanded to a second location by purchasing an existing Lennox dealership in River Falls, Wisconsin.

1999

Sylvander Heating expanded again, moving into its third new building in Red Wing. Dale Thompson passed away and Tom Thompson and Theresa Gillman assumed ownership.

2005

Sylvander Heating celebrated its 75th anniversary!

2010

Sylvander Heating celebrated 80 years of success! Mayor of Red Wing, MN proclaimed July 1st as Sylvander Heating Day!

2012

Blake Thompson, Tom Thompson’s son and founder N.B. Sylvander’s great-grandson, joined the family business!

2015

Sylvander Heating celebrated its 85th anniversary!

2025

Marlene Thompson, NB Sylvander’s daughter and mother of Tom and Theresa, still comes to work every day, along with many other long-time employees; some who have been with Sylvander Heating for over 35 years!
